Author Instructions CoNLL-2000 Shared Task

Here you can find the instructions for the final version of papers covering the shared task of the CoNLL-2000.

  1. The CoNLL-2000 shared task papers consist of a three-page (or less) self-contained LaTeX file describing the methods applied to the task and the results
  2. You do not have to describe the shared task. The proceedings will contain a separate introduction to this task.
  3. Your paper should use the standard ACL style file colacl.sty and the bibliography file acl.bst (see below).
  4. The paper should use font size 11 points but the reference list should be typeset in small font (\small).
  5. There should be no page numbers in the paper.
  6. Each paper should contain a table with the results of the best-performing method reported on in the top of the final column of the final page (compare with example submission below). The table should contain precision, recall and F rates for the ten chunk types in the data and overall figures. These can be computed with the evaluation script.
  7. If you cannot use LaTeX then submit a plain text file and we will convert it to LaTeX for you. In that case, please include a formatted version of your paper so we can get some idea what kind of layout you prefer.
  8. Important: together with your paper, submit the output of your best performing system (list of chunk tags). The performance rates will be checked by us and the lists of chunk tags will be made available on the shared task web page after the workshop.
  9. An example contribution can be found below.

The deadline for sending in your LaTeX paper and the associated list of chunk tags is July 31, 2000. Send them to Erik Tjong Kim Sang: erikt@uia.ua.ac.be
